Postgraduate Programs

Postgraduate studies programmes are essential to any academic institute and play a significant role in achieving its educational, cultural, social and economic goals. Most departments of T.E.I. of Central Macedonia offer postgraduate studies programs which lead to master’s degrees, with the aim to enhance interdisciplinary study opportunities for graduate students.

The following Programmes are offered:

A. Business Administration Department

  1. The Postgraduate Program of Business Administration Department is titled "Postgraduate Studies Program in Business Administration" and started in October 2010. The program is offered with full and/or part-time attendance, of three or five semesters respectively and is developed in three directions: (a) general MBA, (b) Enterprise Information Systems, and (c) Costing and Auditing.

    Aim of the program is the production and transmission of knowledge, expertise, methodologies, operational tools and research results in the scientific field of business administration and especially in the areas of enterprise information systems, cost accounting and auditing.

  2. The department of Business Administration of T.E.I. of Central Macedonia launched a second Postgraduate Studies Programme in English, for the academic year 2012-2013 entitled "MBA in Hospitality and Tourism".

    The purpose of the MBA in Hospitality and Tourism is fourfold:

    1. To provide students with strong knowledge of management concepts and tools

    2. To enrich strategic and operational insights of the hospitality and tourism industry

    3. To impart skills and knowledge that will enable students to offer practical solutions to problems facing the tourism and hospitality industry

    4. To train students to act and manage in a global rapidly changing marketplace

B. Accounting and Finance Department

The Postgraduate Program of Accounting and Finance Department of T.E.I. of Central Macedonia is titled "Financial Accounting and Management" and leads to M.Sc. in " Financial Accounting and Management". The program’s duration is three (3) semesters, and the 3rd semester is dedicate to the dissertation. The program was launched during the spring semester of the academic year 2009-2010 and is currently in progress.

The aim of the MSc in Financial Accounting and Management is deepening and promotion of knowledge in the fields of Financial Accounting and Administration using new technologies, specialization of students in these technologies and production of managers capable of responding to the professional field of businesses, organizations and the public sector.

C. Informatics and Communications Department

The Informatics and Communications Department offers a new post-graduate program of study entitled “M.Sc. in Communication and Information Systems”, which leads into two streams of specialization, namely the Communication Systems Specialization and the Information Systems Specialization. The program is starting in Fall 2012.

The aims of this postgraduate program of study are:

  1. to advance the knowledge of graduates and develop research skills in scientific areas related to the Communication and Informatics fields.
  2. to update and enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals already working in the fields of Communications and Information Technology in order to face challenges in the ever evolving fields of Communications and Informatics.

D. Geoinformatics and Surveying Department

The Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying participates in Postgraduate Studies under the title "Prevention and management of natural disasters". The involved parts are the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of University of Athens and the Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying of T.E.I. of Central Macedonia. Responsible Department is the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of University of Athens.

The Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying participates in the program contributing to the development and use of the tools in the above process, taking the responsibility of teaching courses and enabling postgraduate students to specialize in a demanding, modern and always topical scientific field.

E. Mechanical Engineering Department

The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a new Postgraduate Program entitled "M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems: Design, Development and Optimization”. The program will run from the beginning of the Academic Year 2013-2014 and for the next eight years.

Purpose of the Postgraduate Program is the production, promotion and transfer of knowledge and expertise, operational tools and methodology, as well as original research results in the scientific area of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), with emphasis on the design, development and optimization of systems of exploitation of these sources.
